About Aven Barbosa
Aven Barbosa, APC, NCC
Under directed experience and clinical supervision of Liza Reed, MS, LMFT, LPC, CPCS, LPC8873.
I work with adults and couples who are functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or emotionally exhausted on the inside.
Many of my clients come to therapy feeling anxious, stuck, resentful, or unsure of themselves—often after years of holding it all together. You might be successful, responsible, and deeply caring, yet feel burned out, emotionally shut down, or caught in the same patterns in your relationships.
I specialize in working with:
Adults experiencing anxiety, depression, people-pleasing, perfectionism, and emotional burnout
Women navigating midlife transitions, including identity shifts, relationship changes, and perimenopause
Couples stuck in negative communication cycles, emotional disconnection, recurring conflict, or difficulty repairing after hurts
Individuals shaped by family dynamics where emotions weren’t safely expressed, leading to overthinking, emotional avoidance, or self-doubt
Stepmoms navigating complex roles, grief, and unmet expectations
Clients often say things like:
“I don’t trust my reactions anymore.”
“We keep having the same fight and never feel resolved.”
“I’ve lost touch with who I am.”
“I give so much and feel resentful for it.”
My approach is relational, integrative, and emotionally focused, drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). We slow things down to understand emotional patterns, reduce reactivity, and build emotional safety—with yourself and in your relationships.
Therapy with me is thoughtful, grounding, and collaborative. You don’t need to have the right words or know exactly what’s wrong. We work together to create clarity, emotional trust, and meaningful change.
If you’re looking for a therapist who understands complex emotions, relationship dynamics, and the quiet weight of holding everything together, you’re in the right place.
